I love using Wix Shoutout for sending out my monthly newsletters to my readers! It’s so easy to use, and not to mention, I think the layout is pretty! It’s my goal to send out 2-3 newsletters a month to share author updates. I love the responses, emails, and prayers from my subscribers! They lift me up! My readers are a huge support system for me, and it gives me the motivation to keep at it! When email list readers email me back, I know they’re also praying for me! Hugs to all of you!

If you’re an author and looking for a great way to send out newsletters, I recommend Wix Shoutout. I also use Google Sheets to populate my email addresses from my Google Form and my website pop up subscriber button. I don’t pay for a subscriber list collector when I can do the quick copy and paste clicks and manage my own list. **Make sure if you’re collecting reader/subscriber emails, you keep them private and don’t share out your list. Only use your list for the purposes that you told your subscriber when they trusted you with their email. Once I get my subscribers, I then transfer the new readers to the Wix Shoutout contact list prior to hitting the send button. Super easy! And did I mention it’s free! Y’all know I’m a teacher and look for every way I can reach others without breaking the bank! Free is my speed! Especially when it’s easy, beautiful, and quick!

My newsletter serves as a way I can engage with my readers and writing community and share what I’ve been up to! I love receiving emails from readers at jenlowrywrites@gmail.com, and oftentimes, they’ll email me after they get a newsletter in their box to let me know what’s up with their author life, what they’re currently reading, or just to say hello or ask for prayer! Newsletters are a way to welcome fans to your platform, too.

So, why Wix Shoutout when I can use so many other professional newsletter sites to create my newsletters?

1. It’s so easy to use. The email marketing templates are SUPER quick to create and visually appealing! All the work is really done for me! I just have to add my content in.
2. I know it shows up right in the email message. I don’t have to attach a PDF or have someone click to open something else. It’s beautiful, shows my brand, and allows me to add pictures, videos, and links!
3. I can track the progress and monitor the delivery, click rates, and see if my call to action buttons are being utilized! Not only does it show my direct email opens but also how many clicked from the social media sites I’ve shared it to!
4. It stores my subscriber emails so with one checkbox, I can add my recipients and hit share!
5. I can send a test email to myself. I don’t know about you, but I can mess up! It’s better for me to check it first the way my readers will view it before just blindly sending it out.
6. I love how I can hit the share button afterwards and put the links here on my blog , Twitter, Facebook, Twitter, etc. I also can share the JPG on my website. All of this maximizes my reach and gets my message out to my tribe!
7. It’s free! You can send three email marketing campaigns each month! One day I’ll be upgraded, but for now, the free plan works great for me!

Author Talk: 7 Reasons Why You Should Create an Author Newsletter

My First Email Blast Newsletter to Subscribers 4/28/2019

I’m in full research mode as I continue to develop and refine my publicity plan for Sweet Potato Jones release for September 10, 2019. I’m hearing over and over again on how important it is to harvest an email subscriber list and take care of your subscribers! It’s something I have neglected. Well, it’s a new day! I’m on it! Now, I’m challenging you.

Here are the top seven reasons why you should consider building a subscriber list.

1. Subscribers become part of your selected tribe! They signed up for YOU! They like you! They want more content, news, and offerings! Congratulations. No matter how small you might start out. Even if you have 1 subscriber. Take it like you have 10,000 and keep building and promoting on your sites!
2. They receive behind-the-scenes author news or information by subscribing! Your content on your newsletter needs to be special, not readily accessible on just a regular social media site. If so, what’s the point? Create a list of top newsletter ideas and see what fits your personal style the most. If you rant, have a rant section. If you review, you can do that, too. So many possibilities!
3. You stay fresh on their mind because you show up on time in their inbox! Schedule out your newsletters. If you choose weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly – mark in your calendar when you are going to create your newsletter and set it to send out at a designated time. That way you won’t get behind, and you have a few days to play around with. I chose a monthly newsletter initially and already have it scheduled to create my first draft by the 20th of each month. On my Google calendar, it’s easy to set a notification to go off Monthly on the third Monday that automatically fills in NEWSLETTER CREATION. This gives me all of that time!
4. You can connect with new readers that want to engage with you because they subscribe. They can also share with other readers they know by sharing out your newsletter. Ask them in a Call to Action to share our your newsletter with friends or ask them to encourage other readers to sign up to join your tribe! Create a short video clip that you can include in your newsletter edition “Thanks for Subscribing to my Author Newsletter” – Title it that and keep it on your sites. That will pull new people when they find you. (Great idea, let me go and accept this challenge and make one really fast!)
5. You can provide unique content in that particular place that could appeal to the subscriber! (Tips, Recommendations, Thoughts, Photos, Family Info, Poetry, Excerpts, Events, Reviews, Noteworthy News, Vacations, Fun Stuff, Things You Love – I did a whole section on butterflies and included a pic I took! So random, but that’s me! Anyone that subscribes to me will get that soon enough! Maybe that’s why they stick around!)
6. You can create free content supports (checklists, forms, planner sheets, clips, images, wallpapers, etc.) that subscribers can have by being a part of your exclusive mailing list. Get creative! You can release never seen edits, or behind the scene content on your book development. You can release the first chapter in audio only to your subscribers. You can record yourself reading the first pages of your book to send to your email list.
7. You can continue to challenge and push yourself to advance your promotion and marketing strategies by researching trends, models, etc. Look up ways to create unique newsletters that fit your style and brand! Never stop growing!

I recommend that you watch this YouTube video by author, Alexa Donne! I love researching on YouTube and will be making my own author newsletter video soon (Once I get another mail out!).
