Exploring the interconnectedness of humanity, Denise Minnerly’s passion fires her work as she transforms human reaction and social mores into her paintings, etchings and sculptures. “The Village Project” an installation asks participants from a wide spectrum within communities to create their version of “home”. The project has traveled from college galleries to museums. Most recently her attention has been focused on understanding human nature. Observing horses and our own human reaction she delves into the similarity of our state of awareness. Using paint, plaster and pigments traditionally used in the renaissance she communicates her own identity as it relates to the understanding of the human condition.

Denise Minnerly graduated from the University of Vermont with a BS in art education and BFA in the arts. She continued her art education at the Arts Student League in New York City and the Silvermine School of Art in Connecticut. She is the illustrator of three published children’s books relating to art; The Color Tree, Molly Meets Mona and Friends and Painting the Town. Minnerly exhibits her work in the Tri-State area. Her paintings are displayed by public corporations throughout the Northeast.

The Impossible Girl by Ashely White – MG Fantasy – Clean Reads You Can Trust

The Impossible Girl by Ashely White Amazon Link

I’ll never forget when I met Ava Jones for the first time. It was early in the Monarch days when the pitch events were a way I could connect with authors. I fell in L-O-V-E with Ava’s story. She’s full of heart, wants the best for her friends, and is super kind. She’s optimistic even in dark times and isn’t afraid to stand up for herself. When enough is enough, she breaks and falls … through a portal to the imaginative and creative world that Ashley has so extraordinarily created. From vampires (my favorite) to witches and creatures that bump in the night, Ashely took my breath away with her Harry Potter-style adventure. I hadn’t felt that way since reading Harry, and I prayed that somehow we could represent Ashely White and have her as a part of #TeamMonarch. Trust me when I say, with each author that I offer a contract to, I have moments of wonder – “Would they chose Monarch? We are still such a small company? This book is the best book. This author is amazing. How am I …” on and on with questions like that until I turn it over and let it be. Happens every time. And when Ashley said YES! happy-tears for me! Now Ashely White is a middle-grade fantasy author of clean reads and a champion of authors everywhere! She’s also a developmental editor and has terrific talent and guides with care as helps authors with editing their book babies! I’m so proud of her and am so honored to call her a Monarch. You can connect with Ashely on social media. Here’s her website too!

I believe that Ashely’s book matters. I love it. I think you’re going to love it too.

“I enjoyed reading this magical book, The Impossible Girl by Ashley White. This fantastical book will take you into a hidden magical world filled witches, warlocks, fairies, vampires, mermaids, and other magical creatures. You will not want to put it down as you journey through this fun adventure. Ava, the young heroine is on a journey of self discovery in a new amazing world. Along the way she makes friends, deals with hard life problems, and conquers her fears to reveal her powers. I recommend this book to anyone who loves magical adventures, worlds filled with fantastical creatures, and those who love Harry Potter. You will love the twists and turns throughout and be on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.”

Creatures that go bump in the night call her The Impossible Girl.

Ava Marie Jones is a Lost One. A magite sent out at birth to the mortal realm, no knowledge of who she is or her powers, until she’s called home to Xarcadia on her thirteenth birthday.

The magites who call this “underworld” home live under the strict dictates of The Registry-and Ava will have to do the same. That starts with enrolling in Linhollow Academy for the Supernaturally Gifted.

A target is placed on her back once it’s discovered Ava’s the only magite since The Registry’s inception to not be tagged or able to be tagged in its omniscient system. Powerful magites fear what this could mean and view her as a threat to a way of life that has kept their “underworld” safe for three hundred years.

With all eyes on her, including two oversized shadows from The Registry watching her every move, Ava must toe the line as Resistance Riders, kelpies, near-death experiences, and other dangers follow her everywhere.

In this new world where she shows incredible promise in her craft, Ava will learn that getting to the bottom of her unexplained existence will take her down a perilous path where a dark secret lurks-one dangerous enough to disrupt the entire order of The Registry and jeopardize her life and the lives of her new friends.

right to be silent by Jen Lowry

There’s so much

I can’t say

Locked away

From years on top of years of restraint

And being the one that smiled while

Biting my tongue

Until the rush of it

Goes away

And in the meantime

The silence I appear

To be in is screaming

All this pain

That never subsided

Only morphed into

A kaleidoscope of colors

Some bright reds

Some darker hues

Some light fading into others

On good days

Blending

But never quits spinning

Until it’s safe to speak again

But little is said

Screaming turns to whispers

Colors collide

As I try to form words for it

Then the wave goes back

To cycle again and I realize

Words won’t do it justice

So best to leave it silent that way.

Love,

Jen

Reminds me of the flu by Jen Lowry (original poetry)

Reminds me of the flu by Jen Lowry

When my heart feels heavy

Weights down til I feel the internal ache

Like a bone chilling cold

Inside and that might not make sense

It’s like the chatter flows through the extremities

But not a single shudder or shake

Because it’s coursing through veins

And spaces where no one sees

And still remains a mystery

Tremor in mv throat

Don’t know why

With no warning or reason

Or cataclysmic event

Checked on everyone

And they say they are fine

Just tired

Maybe that explains it

Tired of x, y, and z

The end of things

And honestly the beginnings too

A to w

Included

I’m that tired

Yet here I am holding up a phone

To type this in notes

While the dryer hums

The fan is now set to reverse

And the eucalyptus candles glow

And I’m almost weighted down

Hard to move

Aching sore

From all that internal raging of exhaustion

What hard work it is to be sick and tired

all at the same time

temporary nonetheless

Hugs

Jen
